Binalaan kahapon ng Department of Health (DOH) ang mga residente ng Metro Manila na maging maingat dahil dito higit na marami ang mga kaso ng Influenza A(H1N1) virus kumpara sa ibang lugar sa bansa.
Ang babala ay ginawa ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque dahil na rin sa datos na 7 sa bawat 10 kaso ng H1N1 ay residente ng Maynila habang 15 sa 19 na paaralan na nasuspinde dahil sa virus ay sa Metro Manila rin.
Bunga nito pinayuhan ng DOH ay dapat na maging vigilant ang mga residente ng Metro Manila.
“The virus is expected to spread further in the capital, especially during the rainy season. Of the 344 confirmed cases of the disease, 234 or 68 percent are from Metro Manila, 45 cases or 13 percent are from Central Luzon, while 31 cases or nine percent are from the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon),” pahayag ni Duque.
Gayunpaman, bagama’t inaasahan na ang pagdami ng kaso ng H1N1 ay hindi pa rin umano kailangan na magdeklara ng community outbreak sa Maynila.
Ang 15 schools sa Metro Manila na nagkumpirma na may kaso ng H1N1 ay ang De La Salle University-Taft, Far Eastern University-East Asia College, St. Andrews School sa Parañaque, Ateneo de Manila High School, DLSU College of St. Benilde, Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College Marikina, Mapua Institute of Makati, Lagro Elementary School, Miriam College sa Q.C., Don Alejandro Roces Sr., Science and Technology High School sa Quezon City, St. Paul’s College sa Pasig, Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, University of the Philippines-Diliman, Dominican San Juan at San Beda College.
Ibinalita rin ng DOH na walang naitalang bagong kaso ng H1N1 virus sa nakalipas na 24 oras habang 15 positibong kaso ang nakarekober at gumaling na.
Dahil dito, nasa 344 pa rin ang confirmed laboratory cases ng H1N1 ng Pilipinas habang 262 na ang fully recovered cases.
Kaugnay nito, sinabi naman ni Dr. Eric Tayag, hepe ng DOH-National Epidemiology Center na ang isang tao na nagkaroon ng H1N1 at gumaling ay nagkakaroon na ng immunity sa H1N1 subalit hindi ito nangangahulugang ligtas na ito sa bagong strain ng virus.
Tulad ng dengue, ang H1N1 ay maaari umanong muling dumapo sa isang tao na nagkasakit na nito at gumaling kung magkakaroon ng pagbabago sa strain ng virus na kumalat sa bansa.
Tiniyak naman ni Health Undersecretary Mario Villaverde na handa ang pamahalaan sa panibagong strain ng H1N1 flu na nakumpirma ng mga eksperto sa Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Aniya ang natuklasang bagong strain sa Brazil ay halos katulad lamang ng una nang kumalat na H1N1 na nilalabanan sa pamamagitan ng mga gamot, quarantine at swab tests subalit sinasabing mas matindi ito.
Gayunpaman nilinaw ni Villaverde na walang dapat ikabahala ang publiko, nakahanda umano ang pamahalaan sakaling mag-evolve ang bagong strain gayunpaman umaasa ang DOH na kung mag-mutate o magbagong anyo ang H1N1 ay hindi ito maging mas delikadong virus tulad ng SARS.
Samantala sa update ng World Health Organization (WHO), nasa 39,620 na ang ang kumpirmadong kaso ng H1N1 sa buong mundo, 167 ang nasawi habang 88 bansa na ang apektado.
